This Exchange Policy applies to all orders placed on valamdesign.com. It outlines our exchange process and conditions while recognizing that additional rights may apply depending on your jurisdiction. Where mandatory consumer protection laws provide greater rights, those laws will prevail.

To request an exchange, please email purchase@valamdesign.com with the following details:

  • Order number
  • Item(s) to exchange
  • Preferred replacement item
  • Reason for exchange (e.g., size, preference, defect, or misdescription)

Processing time: Exchange requests are typically reviewed within 2–3 business days of receipt.


1.3 General Exchange Rights

Depending on your location, you may have legal rights to request an exchange or return within a specified period after receiving your order.

  • You may be entitled to request an exchange without providing a reason within a legally defined timeframe.
  • Items that are faulty, damaged, not as described, or unfit for purpose may qualify for exchange under applicable laws.
  • Where required by law, no fees or deductions will apply for such exchanges.
  • You may be required to return the original item before a replacement is issued.

1.4 Discretionary Exchange Policy

Where no mandatory exchange rights apply, the following terms apply:

  • Exchanges may be requested within 30 days of delivery for eligible non-custom items.
  • Items must meet the condition requirements outlined below.
  • Approval of exchanges is subject to product availability.
  • Exchanges are processed after the returned item is received and inspected.

1.5 Eligible Items for Exchange

Items that may be exchanged include:

  • Standard (non-custom) products in original condition
  • Items with original packaging, tags, and accessories
  • Products with verified manufacturing defects or damage
  • Items that do not match their description

Exchange options:

  • Replacement of the same item (different size or variation, if available)
  • Exchange for another item of equal or lesser value
  • Store credit for future purchases
  • Upgrade to a higher-value item with payment of the price difference

1.6 Non-Exchangeable Items

The following items are generally not eligible for exchange:

  • Custom, made-to-order, or personalized products once production has begun
  • Items damaged due to misuse or handling beyond normal inspection
  • Products missing original packaging, tags, or accessories
  • Items not in resalable condition
  • Certain hygiene-sensitive products (where applicable)

Note: Where required by law, exceptions may apply for defective or misdescribed items.


1.7 Condition Requirements

To qualify for an exchange, items must:

  • Be unused or unworn (beyond reasonable inspection)
  • Be free from damage, stains, odors, or alterations
  • Include all original packaging, tags, and accessories

Items showing excessive wear or handling may not be accepted.


1.8 Exchange Process

Step 1: Submit your exchange request via email
Step 2: Receive approval and return instructions
Step 3: Securely package the item with all original components
Step 4: Ship the item using the provided instructions
Step 5: Replacement item is dispatched after inspection

Timeline: Exchanges are typically completed within 5–10 business days after the returned item is received.


1.9 Fees and Costs

  • Defective, damaged, or incorrect items:
    Exchange is free of charge; return shipping may be covered.
  • Size or preference-based exchanges:
    Return shipping costs may apply unless prohibited by law.
  • Upgrades:
    Customers must pay any price difference for higher-value items.
  • Restocking fees:
    No restocking fees are charged for exchanges.

1.10 Faulty or Misdescribed Items

  • Items that are defective, damaged, or not as described are eligible for exchange.
  • Customers should notify us as soon as possible after discovering the issue.
  • If a replacement item is unavailable or also defective, a refund or alternative resolution may be offered in accordance with applicable laws.

1.11 Legal Compliance

This policy operates alongside applicable consumer protection laws.

Where there is any conflict between this policy and mandatory legal rights in your jurisdiction, those legal rights will take precedence, and any conflicting terms in this policy will not apply.
